Color Changing Pearl
We are the ones that hold no ties
And no one can tell us when it’s time
To take the path ahead alone
Our eyes can see past so much
You are the “master” that’s recognized
I am the “servant” that’s denied
A voice that’s constantly ignored
This fuse has been ignited
So where am i?
Indecisions
And it’s creeping up on me
So radical they think you lie
No evidence, a big surprise
Politics in motion and aging
Confined to the coin you choose
To overcome the shit that you’re going through
The color changing pearl
Looked at and frowned upon
What i have done. Explain? Just nevermind
They are perplexed by what i own
Been going on ten summers
And in the end it sees that i
Have failed them again
This time i’m finding on my own
There will be a chance for my redemption
So here am i
With decisions
And they’re right in front of me
So radical they think you lie
No evidence, a big surprise
Politics in motion and aging
Confined to the coin you choose
To overcome the shit that you’re going through
The color changing pearl
Scribble past the lines
Trust me, they’re pissed off this time
Working the 10 to 6 everyday
It just takes a breath to change what’s ahead
All that you said, i heard and did
But you wouldn’t listen when explaining my resistance
Then you said “turn that music down now……..All i wanted to say was,
‘Discover your existence’.”
Painted Glass
This time i’ve made up my mind
To render and see the sublime
Like angels, like angels
Sometimes these moments don’t last
And then it’s hard to believe
That there’s angels, there’s angels
So you see
I am just an average person,
No savior or messiah,
Just part of this blank race
And you see,
There are moments for indifference,
I make the same mistakes
And can’t justify these wrongs
These are the trials of our lives,
Just guarding innocent life
By angels, by angels
Sit back and ponder what i
Had really lost inside
This angel, this angel
So you see i
Am just an average person,
No savior or messiah,
Just part of this blank race
And you see,
There are moments for indifference,
I make the same mistakes
And can’t justify these wrongs
Low Times on the Block
Where is the man at?
Passed out on the door mat
Not long ago now
He was screaming his lungs out
This could be your family
Dysfunctional i agree
Mother, disgusted at what she’s seen,
Emotions bleeding internally
Father’s disposition was set in stone
What ever happened to our home sweet home?
And she thinks that she can’t run away
Cuz there’s just too much at stake
Lord knows this girls seen better days,
But right now how much can she take
Love at first sight
Burnt out like the porch light
Tears start rolling and
She’s crying her eyes out
This could be your family
Dysfunctional i agree
And she thinks that she can’t run away
Cuz there’s just too much at stake
Lord knows this girls seen better days,
But right now how much can she take
Now carrie decided that she’d made up her mind
She wouldn’t sit and cry and be a “poor little girl”.
She wrote a letter to her parents, it said,
“I will be back again, i just can’t take anymore”.
Some few months later she had returned home
To things that were before.
No one was getting along.
So carrie left for good with no regrets ,
But she just can’t forget
The pain that sickens her home
Something Bout the Way
Something about the way
That you look tonight
The sparkle isn’t there
When the moonlight hits your eyes
There’s something
That just ain’t right
Can’t talk it out
Cuz you have crossed the line
And i’ll be
So much more than ordinary in your eyes
The flame is out that burnt so bright
And you’ll see
Someday that this whole thing will fade
Just recognize that these are the facts,
And we’ll both be on our way.
Sitting in my room
With too much time to think about it
The thoughts that haunted me
Seemed cynical, but now released
And i’ve made it
Without you there
As time rolls on
The freedom now seems fair
So i’ll be
So much more than ordinary
In your eyes the flame is out that burnt so bright
And you’ll see
Someday that this whole thing will fade
Just recognize that these are the facts,
And we’ll both be on our way.
So i’m alone
And i don’t care
The times we spent
And the times we shared
So between you and me,
What do you see?
Well i’m not some kind of champion
But you see that i’m alone and i’m fairing well
Pledge of Allegiance
To the friends who’ve passed on by
And to the times that we have shared
To parading around in defiance
What a perfect world it is
And to the night we shed our tears
And not afraid to show our fears
So farewell to past in parting
Who could forget all those years
So see the flowers in their bloom
And the trees that give their shade
Just a picture of hope towards progress
See that never goes away
So we stand on up
And we walk in stride
Don’t ever give up. It’s our time
We’ll take it to the end
What’s wrong, what’s wrong?
You’re not liking this fantasy
You’re troubled by the good that this comes from
What’s wrong, what’s wrong?
I never said this was a dream
The trust and hope and good is where this comes from
To the bars that we would close
And the fights we’d sometimes win
To the arguments that seemed forever
In the end we’d just forgive
To my friends who’ve passed on by
And the places we have lived
Through the miles of road we’re apart
A brotherhood has grown within
As i look at you now and i know that your mind
Is finding a way to make it through these days
Dear Rachel,
Reset
Reset this sign
A little to the left is where forever molded,
I won’t comply
So living on the edge was for you
Bending out the truth enlightens you
But love essentially dies
Dear Rachel,
You killed a man.
So no more promises now,
and yet your well kept secret was overheard by the eager crowd.
So who’s the man?
Am I a bleak afterthought?
And after all we’ve been through, I just watched this fading red sun.
Programmed
to accept the role
So many people cling to the person they Knew then,
not who they know now
Tried to give my point of view too
But you wouldn’t hear the words I told you
So content with life
Dear Rachel
You killed a man.
So no more promises now,
and yet your well kept secret was overheard by the eager crowd.
So who’s the man?
Am I a bleak afterthought?
And after all we’ve been through, I just watched this fading red sun.
Well after you had broke the news
Well I thought I should take the pictures down of you
I never thought I could
And after all was said and done
I was feeling good
