Intriguing, Interesting and Exciting

I purchased this book from a sale rack and let it lie in my office almost a year before reading it on a flight. What a mistake! The book was so intriguing and interesting, I couldn't put it down. To make it even better, I discovered that I was sitting beside a friend of one of the authors on the plane. As a senior archaeologist myself who sometimes does forensic work, I appreciated the efforts of the authors to incorporate scientific methods into the story. It is too bad that archaeologists in Israel are required to immediately relinquish discovered bones to stone-throwing fundamentalist kooks. These could provide the most telling evidence of the physical appearance, health, disease and relationships between those in the tomb. While I am not a biblical scholar, the book has made me want to dig deeper into the documents that shaped the opinions of the authors.
Jacobovici - Embarrasment to the intellectual world

I cannot agree more with all the 1-star reviews as for the poor research on this book as well as its sensasionalistic value.
I had the chance to listen to Jacovici in the panel after the premiere of the Tomb of Jesus on TV choking before the arguments of the well educated theology professors of respected universities and childishly trying to impose his poor arguments to the point of insulting the professors calling them liars in a live show, just like any mythomaniac will do after being cornered & confronted, when he had no more intelligent arguments to offer.
It seems to me that Jacovici, an orthodox jew, is trying to force the idea - no matter what - that Jesus was just a simple man, made of flesh and bones, as all orthodox jews think of him, since they cannot stand him for having called himself the son of God, as I've heard directly from them to say.
Jacovici is simply a guy with a camera on his shoulder (not even a filmmaker), he is not even an archeologist or a scholar, doesn't even hold a degree on history and much less has any Christian background.
How can we even believe whatever he has to say about anything when the guy has no integrity and doesn't even understand the notion of what is the truth.
Interesting reading

This adds another view to the life and death of Jesus. I found this very interesting reading. While I still believe in and read the Bible, I often wonder if we are getting the whole truth or just what someone wants us to know. There are many details left out of the Bible for me and this book gives me something to think about.
